Three items of interest

The Singularity Index graphic
  1. Volunteers needed for an AGI assessment

Anyone who has worked an intelligence problem knows what to do with single-source reporting from an interested party. Yet that's nearly everything the public knows about frontier AI capability: the labs report on themselves, and the benchmarks they cite are ones they train against.

Q16, the public benefit corporation I run, is standing up an independent alternative — a quarterly, panel-based capability assessment built on structured elicitation of experts with no stake in the answer, published free. We're recruiting the first volunteer panel now for the October cycle. The commitment is bounded: roughly an hour of focused work per quarter for panelists, a bit more for the people who track evidence between cycles.

If that sounds like your kind of problem — and for many of you, assessing capability from incomplete, interested sources has been a career — the details are here:https://q16pbc.com/blog/volunteer-quarterly-ai-capability-assessment

  2. The Summit Circle Capsule Briefing with Mick Mulroy is on August 18th

This is a twice monthly closed 45-minute brief on global events by one of Lobo Institute and Whitefish Security Summit co-founder Mick Mulroy. Mick’s background with CIA and DOD, and his current role as an ABC News analyst, can be read on the WSS Team page.

  3. The WSS 2027 Early Bird discount ends in eight days

Purchase your WSS 2027 tickets in the next eight days and save 20% on both Black File and Green File passes. Ticket sales will end once we hit the two hundred mark, and we anticipate selling out. Once that happens, we’ll set up a wait list to fill any cancellations or no-shows.
